To develop my ideas working in the style of Styles and follow through with my bear prints working in the style of Ricardo, I plan to create the smoke outline effect of the bunny. Because it has been such a continuous and prominent aspect within all of my development throughout my project, I believe that it must be included in some form within my final piece. Not only this, but it helps to emphasise within the subject of my work the youth of my model that I use within my photographs and the association of children in a grown up surrounding.

To create these edits, I have firstly carried out a mini shoot capturing photographs of the bunny. As I found within my last experiments in the style of Styles that the process was a lot easier if the background of the original image shows a clear outline of the subject. Therefore, I have placed the rabbit against a black backdrop which will hopefully make the editing process simpler.

Once selecting the most successful photograph, I found that the actual rabbit was dirty along its face from the past shoots I have captured. Even though this aspect is not significant, I believe it represents how even though the majority of the smoke can’t be seen from cigarettes, that there is still visible effects on the child and their belongings.

I found in the editing process that the clear outline made the selection a lot easier to carry out. Although, I feel as if this experiment isn’t as successful as it could be due to the position of the smoke. I used the same position of the faded smoke effect as I did in my previous edit. But, because the two photographs are so different I believe the position of the smoke doesn’t work as well this time round. I believe if the outline of the rabbit was a lot more prominent, then the overall effect of the edit would be more successful.

Overall, I still believe the meaning and theme of this edit is very strong and I still would like to incorporate the bunny in my final piece to represent youth.

As this was difficult to create, I have attempted to create a similar technique using a different process. I have created a selection of over exposed images incorporating the outline of a bear filling it with a dark smoke photograph. I found creating these experiments fairly easy but time consuming and not as effective as my other experiments in the style of Styles.

Although, I still love the message the edits put across about the idea of parents addictions such as smoking having such a huge effect of the child’s life. The smoking itself does not only take hold, but the smell and dirt it leaves behind on the home and the child’s belongings. In my opinion, the smoke within the bear represents how the smoke has more than one effect, smothering the child’s life both physically and mentally. Although in the end I havent found the outcome as successful as I had hoped, I still find the concept very effective and therefore may experiment with a similar idea later on in my project.

Overall, I have found my first bunny edit more effective and believe the meaning and theme of this edit is very strong meaing I would still like to incorporate this outline in my final piece to represent youth.
